Horizons has just finished celebrating its 40th year as a nonprofit dedicated to serving people with developmental disabilities. Started in 1979 as a summer camp for children and adults with special needs, Horizons now offers both summer camp sessions and September-to-May weekend camps, as well as year-round supports including Employment and Job Coaching, Retirement Options, Supported Living, Educational Supports and resources for families. We serve over 1600 individuals every year.

Our mission-based focus is unique. We are sought out due to our reputation for team building and person-centered practices. We do the ordinary in an extraordinary way.

Our next Gala event, “Splash with Panache 2020: Together 40 More!” will be held April 25 on our campus in South Windham. This will be our third home-based gala – the first since 2018 – and we are as excited as ever to welcome friends to the beautiful Yvette Foster Dining Hall in the Milne Family Commons with hospitality provided by our own Horizons hospitality team. There will be cocktails, dinner and dancing to live music from the James Montgomery Band.

The highlight of the night is the live auction, when guests bid on high value items like original artwork, farm-to-table dinner parties, Broadway shows, a Portland Maine vacation package, Dinner in Boston with the CEO and Chairman, and more. 

All funds raised at "Splash with Panache 2020: Together 40 More!" go directly toward helping people with developmental disabilities realize their dreams of a job, a home and loving friendships.
